Religion/Spiritual Care

Religion/Spiritual Care

The mission of Pastoral Care Services is to provide professional, ecumenical, and effective spiritual care for patients, their families, and staff. The Pastoral Care Service, in conjunction with all members of the health care team, addresses the needs of the spirit, the psyche, and the heart on issues of conscience for patients with their families, and staff.

Chapel Services:

An opportunity to worship is offered in Wingham when available.  In Listowel, church service is offered every Tuesday in the first floor Activation Room from 10:30 to 11:30.

Members of the Pastoral Service:

At the Listowel site chaplain services are overlooked by Reverend G. Russel.  In Wingham chaplain services are shared between three duty chaplains:  Deacon Wayne Waechter, Bonnie Mair and Debbie Kuyvenhoven.  The chaplains make regular visits to patients.

Making Use of Pastoral Services:

Pastoral Services are available by asking one of the staff to make contact with them.  Contact information is on the patient units.  Staff can also help you contact your pastor / priest / other faith community leader.

How Can a Chaplain Help?  He or She Can:
  • Talk with you about any fears or anxieties you may have concerning your hospital stay.
  • Talk with you about spiritual dimensions of your health and hospital stay, and pray with you if you wish.
  • Chaplains provide this care to people of all faiths and denominations.

Comments or questions about the hospital Pastoral Services program or its authorized visitors may be made to Patient Care Services (ext. 5472 or 6289).
