Hand Hygiene Compliance

Hand hygiene Compliance Rates:

What is Hand Hygiene Compliance?
Another practice in place to help prevent and control infections is a comprehensive hand hygiene program. Hand hygiene compliance rates are reported annually, and calculated based on compliance to the four moments of hand hygiene:
  1. Before initial patient/patient environment contact
  2. Before aseptic procedure
  3. After body fluid exposure risk
  4. After patient/patient environment contact
The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has mandated that moments 1 and 4 be reported.
The rates are reported as percentages for time periods identified by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
# of times hand hygiene performed x 100
# of observed hand hygiene indications
